Jennifer Thill & K9 Jack

KSARDA Member-At-Large
Member of Board of Directors

Jennifer Jennifer joined the KSARDA team in the summer of 2005 with her K9 Jack and became a certified SARTECH II in October 2005. Jennifer currently serves on KSARDA's Board of Directors as Member-At-Large. Jennifer and her K9 Partner Jack became a Certified Wilderness team in December 2008. She works as a vet tech at a veterinary hospital in her community. She has extensive social work experience that includes working as a Chaplin in the Wesley Medical Center Emergency Department, Trauma, SICU, and CCU Units and continues to volunteer as a Chaplin. She completed her Internship and Residency in Pastoral Care through Wesley Medical Center in 2003 and became certified in Basic and Advanced Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) in 2002 and 2003, and works as a Member of the Inter-Faith CISM Team. She is currently a member of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation since 2002. Jennifer also has experience in Sign Language and has volunteered as a Sign Language Interpreter through the years where needed, including volunteering at the River Festival in 1997, and for the Goddard Special Ed COOP as a Paraprofessional with deaf high school students from 1996-1998. Prior to moving to Kansas, she volunteered and worked in Los Angeles County, California with the United Community Action Network (UCAN) that is a Juvenile First Time Offender Program and directed the "Wise Talk" program that is similar to the "Scared Straight" program from 1992-1995. Jennifer also takes part in the program called "ADOPT A PLATOON" (adoptaplatoon.org) for the last 3 years that provides support, encouragement, and love to soldiers fighting overseas. She is currently the "Adopted Mom" of 2 soldiers in Iraq and 1 in Afghanistan and has happily seen many of "her" soldiers return back home to the states after their tour of duty was completed.

Jennifer's experience includes past animal training through the Delta Society in which she was training her Cocker Spaniel, Chase, to become a Therapy Dog. However, Chase sadly passed away prior to completing the program. She acquired Jack and had always hoped to continue to volunteer for her community. It was natural for Jennifer to become a SAR volunteer with Jack as her K9 Partner. She is looking forward to many rewarding adventures with KSARDA and Jack!

Wilderness Search Certified

Jennifer and Jack search for a missing "victim". Jennifer spends a special moment with partner Jack.
Jack sets out to find his victim. Jack tells Jennifer - "I found him Mom!!"

Jack was born in October 2003 and came to live with Jennifer in December 2003. Jack is a very calm, loving lab, who loves to train. Jack has taken very quickly to his SAR training and has an excellent working drive and close bond with Jennifer. Jack and Jennifer passed their 160-acre wilderness evaluation in December 2008.

Jennifer can't wait to check out the Corn Maze!
