Heather joined the team in 2003 and has served as KSARDA's Treasurer since early 2010. She holds a NASAR SARTECH II certification. Heather is also a trained Weather Spotter; certified in Adult/Child First Aid/CPR, Pet First Aid/CPR, crime scene preservation, FEMA IS-100 Incident Command, FEMA IS-700 National Incident Management System (NIMS) an Introduction; and is a member of the Sedgwick County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). In addition, she has attended many SAR training exercises. Heather has been deployed on several searches, including the May 2007 Greensburg Tornado disaster and the June 2008 Chapman tornado disaster, among others. She is also a presenter of KSARDA children's education program Lost But Found, Safe and Sound.

Currently, Heather is studying at the Academy of Art University in order to obtain a bachelors degree in Interior Architecture and Design. She is married to Gary Swift, who is also a KSARDA member. Together, they have 3 daughters and 1 granddaughter.
