Annette Gaston-- Director of KSARDA & K9 Greta

Annette has decades of experience in Public Safety and has been a member of KSARDA since 1998. She is a certified SARTECH II. Annette has been serving as KSARDA Director since 2005 following her stint as the Northern Region Deputy Director. She is a KSARDA Training Officer, Evaluator, and SAR Manager. In addition to being a Lifetime Member of NASAR, she is a NASAR SARTECH Evaluator and NASAR K9 SARTECH Evaluator. Annette is a retired paramedic and is now working as a vet tech in a veterinary hospital in her community. Annette has been on numerous searches with Greta, including a very memorable one where they helped locate a victim who had been missing for 5 days. Annette also works her second dog Jaeger who is proving to be ably following in Greta's very big footsteps.

K9 Greta successfully locates a live victim during a search in northeast Kansas, 5 days after the person was reported missing.

Greta is a German Shepherd and has been a member of KSARDA since 1998. She became operational in 1999 in Wilderness Search and followed with certifications in Water and Disaster Search. She is also certified in Trailing/scent-discrimination search and Human Remains Detection. Greta has participated in many searches with Annette including tornado victims, walk-away victims, and drowning victims. Greta was honored for her live-find as Miss December 2004 in the Advanstar Veterinary Healthcare Calendar!
